I don’t know if my new haircut is frugal or not. On the one hand, I now have short hair and will have to get it cut more often to maintain my chic new look. (When you have long hair, you can go for several months without getting a trim.) On the other hand, I am going to be using a lot less “product” in my hair than I used to: less shampoo, less conditioner, less smoothing serum. My hair dries faster so I don’t have to use the hair dryer very often… saves on electricity! So, maybe it’s a wash whether or not my hair cut is frugal, but I’m glad I went with short hair.
The neatest part of the experience was that I was able to donate my hair to locks of love. This idea had not occurred to me, but the stylist suggested it. It was no hassle… she just pulled my hair into a couple of pony tails and chopped them off. See?

My hair being donated to Locks of Love.
You have to have at least 10″ of length for them to be able to donate your hair.
I had never gone to this stylist before, but she was very nice. She gave me $5 off since it was my first time with her, plus she styled my hair for no extra charge. She even said I could get another $5 off for referring people to her, and the people I referred would get 20% off. So that haircut was a feel-good experience all the way around.
