Cash Back Websites – Click Through These Before Shopping Online
January 25th, 2010Do not shop online until you have registered for these website (no membership fees) that will pay you money back for shopping via their links. My two recommendations are for Ebates and Big Crumbs.
For all of us who are snowflaking away our debt (trying to build up a nice big snowball every month to smash our credit card bills away), here is another way to hang on to some of your hard-earned money so you can add it to the snowball.
I wish I would have learned about this when I was buying all my kids’ home school books from Amazon. You can get a discount from Amazon and eBay all kinds of websites where you might shop online, if you just start at a cash back website. Apparently you can also combine other discounts or coupons when clicking through these sites, so that’s especially cool.
Specifically, there are two I like that also let you earn via referring your friends and blog readers!
(They also have quirky names – maybe they’ll help us all remember to go there before we go shopping for CDs or books or diapers or whatever else we may be buying.)
This is a nice, easy-to-navigate site that has two different earning levels. On the one hand, you can get the best cashback rate they offer, on your purchases only. Or you can agree to take a slightly lesser amount but then you also have the ability to earn on the people you refer, and the people who they refer, down 5 generations. In other words, if you sign up via my link here I will be able to get some snowflakes to pay off my bills while you are getting cashback to pay off yours too. And we will both benefit from the people that you refer in. Let’s team up!
By the way, Big Crumbs pays out on the 15th of every month and does not have a minimum balance requirement before payout.
I don’t know if I like Ebates name, it makes me think of Norman Bates for some reason. However, that is not to say it’s not a good site, because it is! They will send a check out to you four times a year, or deposit it in your PayPal account. (Or they can send it to your favorite charity, but since we’re all paying off our debts, that charity may well be ourselves for the moment.)* The minimum is $5.01 for payout. They start you out with $5 just for signing up!
They also have a referral program, paying $5 for each person you refer. Their minimum amount to pay out is $25, and payouts are quarterly.
(* Just so you know, 10% of all our earnings, whether our cashback from Ebates and BigCrumbs or our regular old paychecks, to charity. We believe that 10% tithe is a good place to start and someday hope to give more. )
I no longer will shop online or even in a land store without first checking out these sites. We were able to get a small percentage cash back this weekend when we wanted to get the kids a Wii Motion Plus accessory from Best Buy. The cashback reward was offered for an online puchase, so we ordered it online to pick it up in the store. It worked out just fine! It’s sort of like a coupon without the instant gratification… but it’s still a break on the price, and when you’re snowflaking to pay off debts, any little amount of cash back helps!
